Many Good Men Resource Pack

Today, Civic Digits and the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) launch the Many Good Men Education Pack, a new creative learning resource to support educators in addressing misogyny and gender-based violence in society.

The pack is designed for upper secondary and FE students and is rooted in a participatory theatre project that brought together two groups of young people to co-create original plays exploring misogyny, mental health and masculinity. Using fictional, character-based storytelling, the resource creates safer, more open spaces for discussion and supports learners to explore challenging issues.

The launch of the pack will be marked by a special event at Codebase in Edinburgh, bringing together educators, young people, creatives and policymakers to celebrate the launch.

The Education pack and event partners and supporters are: Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), Martin Whitfield MP, IAMME, Stories Untold, Stellar Quines Theatre Company, and the generous support of Creative Scotland, Heart of Midlothian FC, Zero Tolerance, YouthLink Scotland, Women’s Support Project, James Gillespie’s High School and The Artist Wellbeing Company and Passion 4 Fusion.

Many Good Men is a participant-led digital forum theatre project. Staged in football clubs, young people create and perform the story of a footballer drawn into online radicalisation. Audiences get the opportunity to step into the action – using digital tools and live interventions to change the outcome.

This vital project opens urgent conversations about healthy masculinity, why some men are vulnerable to radicalisation and how communities can respond.

Civic Digits want to create Many Good Men theatre projects with groups of young people across Scotland – empowering them to author their own solutions and make performances for their own communities. The project also creates space for parents, carers, teachers and youth workers to listen, learn and support young people navigating a digital world that often exploits and harms them for profit.

Many Good Men premiered in 2024 at Heart of Midlothian FC.

The project formed the basis of a joint report with Civic Digits and Zero Tolerance.
